Between Rock Port and Mound City, MO....is Big Lake, MO. The state park which has been closed due to 2020 flooding has now reopened. The 625-acre Oxbow Lake is perfect for fishing. You may see eagles flying overhead, possibly pelicans depending on when you visit, but wil​l most likely see canada geese or a duck or two. Turtles and frogs galore. The State park offers camping, a swimming pool, a shelter house ready to reserve, and a boat ramp.  Premium camper cabins will also be available at the park in the future. These were closed due to the flooding.

This is also where the "Pelican Lane" parcel of the Great Fishing Recreational property is located. Located on the back side of the lake away from the hustle and bustle of the main drag. Camping/tenting on the lots is always available. There's a gazebo with tables to relax and enjoy the lake. Our portable buildings there are currently under construction, but when completed we will offer a bunk house for sleeping and a kitchen/bathroom cabin for visitors use. Complete with a boardwalk along the lake and twin docks out onto the water for fishing and/or boating. Plenty of space for camping or enjoying nature.
